BABY SITTER

Job Description – A Baby Sitter’s primary responsibility is to care for the child/children, including entertaining the child/children, making sure the child/children is fed according to the parents’ instructions, and generally providing for the well-being of the child/children.  Unlike a nanny, a Baby Sitter’s responsibilities typically do not include other household or extensive child-related responsibilities (e.g., there is usually no housekeeping, meal preparation, transporting the children, running errands, etc. involved).  Some of the responsibilities may certainly be negotiated with a Baby Sitter, but are not typically part of the job description.

Typical Salary – Pay for Baby Sitters may vary anywhere from minimum wage to $10/hr depending on the Baby Sitter’s experience, number of children to be cared for and region of the country.

Schedules – All domestic personnel position types registered at mynanna.com must include their availability.  They may be available part-time or full-time or both, and may also indicate the times they are available during the week, evening, on occasion/ as needed, etc.  Please feel free to ask an intake coordinator here at Me and My Nanna, LLC, the schedule of a baby sitter to best determine their availability.

Regularly Scheduled Sitters – If you are looking for a sitter who will have a regularly scheduled time for weekdays, 2 times per week, etc., you should inform the intake coordinator at such time as you are requesting our services.  This assists us in providing you with baby sitters who can be accessed by you on a regular basis without disruption to your child/children’s familiarity to the caregiver.

Occasional/As needed Baby Sitters – If you are in need of occasional sitting for your child/children, group or organization, then your best value for our service is to subscribe for membership with our agency.  By doing this, you are guaranteed a well-qualified baby sitter(s) who will be available upon short notice (usually within 4 hours after a call is made into our office).  When speaking with an intake coordinator, inform her/him of your needs, such as the time(s) that are desired for your baby sitter and the location, etc. and immediately assistance will be given to help you in your search.

Benefits – Offering benefits to an employee is not required by law.  Benefits, of course, makes the package being offered to the baby sitter more attractive and may contribute to longevity of their availability and employment with your family.  Many candidates expect and/or desire benefits, while others do not.  This should be discussed directly between you, the family and the candidates.

How to find and hire a baby sitter – To find a baby sitter through Me and My Nanna, LLC, each family is encouraged to assess the family’s childcare needs.  The family is encourage to write down what they are looking for in a caregiver, and just because a situation presents itself where a baby sitter’s services may be more warranted than nanny services, we believe that the same time and fervor should be given when making decisions for your child/children. Many of these questions and outlines can be found on this website under our FAQ for Family section.
